CSCA 2021 Convention - Adjunct and Temporary Faculty Caucus Call for Papers and Panels

ADJUNCT AND TEMPORARY FACULTY CAUCUS
Call for Papers and Panels

Central States Communication Association (CSCA)
Annual Convention-Cincinnati, Ohio
March 23-28, 2021

Inspire

The Adjunct and Temporary Faculty Caucus invites the submission of creative programs and interactive panels for the 2021 CSCA convention in Cincinnati, Ohio, March 23-28, 2021. The purpose of the Caucus is to discuss and support the issues that are specific to adjunct and temporary faculty in the academic world. Our Caucus seeks to provide adjunct/temporary faculty with support, guidance, and training. The convention theme, Inspire, connects to our Caucus goals of support and networking. How can we inspire each other? How can we inspire our students?

Panels: We welcome submissions from everyone with an interest in shaping the future and capitalizing on the talents of adjunct, part-time, and temporary faculty members. We encourage a wide range of formats and topics, especially those developed based on the convention theme of Inspire. Specific issues of interest to our group include: piecing together a paycheck: working at several institutions; work-life balance and overloads; losing adjuncts due to HLC; disbanding administration beliefs that anyone can teach online; programs that highlight stellar adjuncts/temp faculty; resources for new adjunct/temp faculty; adjuncts and veteran teachers sharing teaching methods; diversity issues; mentoring issues for new hires or graduate students; orientation of new faculty; curriculum vitae preparation; networking opportunities or a special program for adjuncts/temporary/part-time instructors. We strongly recommend panels that include panelists from multiple institutions. Short course submissions on any of these issues are also encouraged. Our Caucus urges Department Chairs and Basic Course Directors to encourage and support submissions from their adjunct/part-time faculty members.

All technology requests must be made at the time of submission.

Submissions must be received by 11:59 PM, CDT, October 9, 2020.

Send submissions electronically through our online system via the CSCA website available at: https://www.csca-net.org/aws/CSCA/pt/sp/callforpapers. Please consider asking all potential presenters on your panel to create a profile on the CSCA convention webpage. Membership is not required to create a profile. Submissions will begin on July 1, 2020.
