Inspire

The Communication Education Interest Group is dedicated to the advancement of practical, pedagogical, methodological, and theoretical interests of its members. The Interest Group equally values the educational viewpoints and perspectives of its constituents, which include K-12, community college, and four-year college and university educators. The Interest Group seeks to promote dialogue among its diverse members and other interest groups at CSCA.

Submission for the upcoming conference should center around the theme of “Inspire.” Papers and panels should connect their submission to the overall conference theme or specifically consider topics related to the following questions:

SUBMISSION TYPES

Submissions are limited to the formats described below. However, if you have an idea for an innovative panel format that is not outlined herein, contact the Communication Education Interest Group program planner (Samantha Dunn, samanthadunn.edd@gmail.com) for authorization to submit an alternative format.

Paper Submissions.

Only completed papers will be accepted. Papers must include a title and brief abstract (<100 words). Paper length (excluding title page and abstract) should not exceed 30 pages. If accepted for presentation, each paper will be put onto a thematized panel with other papers, and the program planner will assign a respondent and a chair.

Special Notes:

Discussion Panels Submissions.

Discussion panels are those including 4 - 7 panelists who provide a brief opening statement concerning a topic and then engage in discussion, often with the entire attending audience. These panels must have a chair to introduce the panelists and to moderate the discussion.

 AWARDS

The Communication Education Interest Group offers three awards based upon reviewer evaluations of outstanding submissions.  Those awards include the Top Competitive Paper (see “paper submissions” above), the Top Competitive Panel (see “discussion panel submissions” above), and the Gustav Friedrich Award for top student competitive paper (student paper submitted within “paper submissions” above; accompanied by a $100 cash award).

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

All technology requests must be made at the time of submission.

All authors or panelists on each submission should create a profile on the CSCA convention website prior to submission.

Submissions must be received by 11:59 PM, CDT, October 9, 2020
