We’ve reached mid-September. By now, we have begun our semesters and, hopefully, lives have begun to settle into routines. So, it’s time to bring up a reminder about our Call for Programs for the Community College Interest Group, which is due in about a month. If you are interested in serving as a program reviewer, please fill out this Google Form and let me know. I’m happy to accept the help. Finally, please reach out to colleagues both from your own institution and from other nearby institutions to get them involved in the Interest Group. The more people we have engaged in our work, the more that we can do together to advance our teaching, our development, and the success of our students and ourselves.

Re-Connect
The Community College Interest Group invites the submission of competitive papers, panels, roundtable discussions, and innovative programming for the 2021 CSCA convention in Madison, Wisconsin.
The purpose of the Community College Interest Group is to deal with issues of general concern to members including the sharing of information on course development, teaching strategies, and programs in the Community Colleges; promoting professional research-related instruction; encouraging co-curricular activities; and organizing panels and programs for the annual CSCA convention.
A range of topics encompassing teaching and learning as well as discipline-related professional experiences at Community Colleges are welcome. We especially encourage members to address issues related to the convention theme, “Re-Connect”. Submissions that foreground the voices of marginalized groups and underrepresented scholars are especially welcomed. Regarding panels, preference will be given to those with panelists representing multiple institutions rather than representing a single institution.
Panels: We strongly encourage panels and discussions of 4-7 individuals that would appeal to a broad audience of community college educators. These panels must include a chair to introduce the panelists and to moderate the discussion. Time for audience questions/ participation is encouraged. Please include all participating panelists, institutions, and specific topics when applicable. If technology will be needed, specify the needs at the time of submission.
Papers: Only completed papers will be accepted.
Submissions must be received by 11:59 PM, CDT, October 8, 2021.
Send submissions electronically through our online system via the CSCA website. Submitters should be certain that all potential presenters create a profile in the CSCA convention webpage as part of their submission. Membership in CSCA is not required to create a profile.
