CSCA Names Dr. Sara Baker Bailey Inaugural Creative Director

Sara Baker Bailey At NCA 2023, the CSCA Executive Committee interviewed candidates for our inaugural Creative Director (2023-2026). We are pleased to announce that the CSCA Executive Committee has selected Dr. Sara Baker Bailey to serve in this important role. She will work closely with our Executive Director and 1st Vice Presidents/Primary Planners to promote CSCA and our upcoming conventions in Grand Rapids, Cincinnati, and Minneapolis. Dr. Sara Baker Bailey (PhD, University of Nebraska-Lincoln) is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication, Media, and Screen Studies at Southern Connecticut State University. Sara’s research draws on interpersonal and organizational communication as it relates to performances of gender, sex, and sexuality in organizational settings like work and school. Her recent publications explore the communication of sexuality-specific microaggressions in the workplace and how LGBTQ working adults experience dignity in and at work. She teaches classes in organizational communication, public relations, and service learning.

Prior to joining the academy, Dr. Baker Bailey worked in marketing, communication, and non-profit administration. She served as NCA’s Student Organizations Director from 2004-2007. In that role, Sara gained experience in copywriting, newsletter design, and award ceremony and conference program planning. Since September 2020 Sara has served as CSCA’s newsletter editor. She also contributes social media content and management to several academic and community organizations including her university’s AAUP chapter and her local town Democrats.
