2025 CSCA Convention - Sports Communication Interest Group ... Call for Papers and Panels
SPORTS COMMUNICATION INTEREST GROUP
Call for Papers and Panels
Central States Communication Association (CSCA) Annual Convention-Cincinnati, OH
April 1-6, 2025
Widening the Scope
The Sports Communication Interest Group invites submissions of competitive papers, panels, roundtable discussions, and innovative programming for the 2025 CSCA convention in Cincinnati, Ohio. The purpose of the Sports Communication Interest Group is to facilitate scholarship and pedagogy centered on examining and teaching sport from all communication research perspectives. The interest group invites scholarship of sport communication and its intersection with media, culture, identity, organizations, activism, health communication, pedagogy, and other areas of communication research. The unit encourages members to address contemporary issues related to the convention theme: Widening the Scope. Scholars are encouraged to submit work that widens the scope of the sport communication field by conducting innovative research, studying unique subjects and audiences, broadening application of social effects, extending past work, enhancing pedagogy including classroom activities and resources, and exploring interconnections between sport communication and other fields in academic research and at our institutions. The interest group encourages submissions that challenge hegemonic understandings of sport communication and that value diversity, equity, and inclusion of historically marginalized peoples and perspectives. Preference will be given to panels with panelists representing multiple institutions rather than representing a single institution.
