EQUITY AND INCLUSION COMMITTEE – Call for New Members

EQUITY AND INCLUSION COMMITTEE – Call for New Members

The Equity and Inclusion Committee (EIC) is seeking nominations for new members to join the committee. The deadline for nominations is November 15, 2024. CSCA members are welcome to self-nominate or nominate a fellow scholar.

The EIC is a six-member committee charged with reviewing CSCA policies and practices to identify actions that might disadvantage particular groups of members or limit their participation, particularly BIPOC members. Please see below for a full description of the committee’s charge and responsibilities.

Members serve on the committee for two years. Each year, three committee members rotate off and three new members are added.  The committee will elect a vice chair from the incoming members who will serve as a chair the subsequent year. Current and outgoing members of the EIC based on interest and diversity select EIC membership.

EIC members should be as diverse and intersectional as possible. Recognizing that the committee will never be able to represent all constituencies, the committee should, however, strive to include graduate students, tenure and non-tenure track faculty, adjuncts, international faculty, and diversity across the power vectors of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, lifestyle, religion, age, and ability.  The specific nomination processes are described below:

EIC Nominating Procedures

The procedure for selecting EIC members is as follows:

  1. The members of the committee will be chosen from a pool of candidates from CSCA membership.  That pool will be constituted from self- and other-nominations and will be evaluated by the current EIC members. Deadline for nominations: November 15, 2024. Nominee name and contact information should be emailed to the EIC Chair, Shweta Arpit Srivastava at shweta.arpitsrivastava@gmail.com
  2. The EIC chair will contact nominees and request a vita and a 300-word maximum personal statement about interest, experience, and alignment with the goals of the EIC. All CSCA members are welcome. The committee should be as diverse as possible. These materials should be submitted to the EIC chair by January 15, 2025.
  3. New committee members will be notified by March 1, 2025. If possible, new members should plan to attend the Hall of Fame and Business Luncheon to be introduced to the CSCA membership.

Responsibility & Expectations of EIC Members and Officers

Member Responsibilities and Expectations
