CSCA Announces Next Editor of the Journal of Communication Pedagogy

Dear CSCA members:

I am pleased to announce that the CSCA Executive Committee has selected Dr. Meggie Mapes as the next editor of the Journal of Communication Pedagogy. She will work closely with our current editor, Dr. Renee Kaufmann, for the remainder of her term, and officially transition to the position of incoming editor on January 1, 2025. She will start accepting submissions in March 2025. You can read more about Meggie in her bio below. Thanks to Meggie for accepting this position and to Renee for all of her work in the role.

Meggie MapesMeggie Mapes (Ph.D. Southern Illinois University Carbondale) is the Introductory Course Director and an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Kansas. Her research centers communication pedagogy and critical/cultural studies, with work  featured in Communication Education, Basic Communication Course Annual, Women’s Studies in Communication, and Communication Teacher, amongst others. Dr. Mapes also champions open access, open pedagogy, and open education. She has authored the award winning textbook, Speak out, Call In: Public Speaking as Advocacy (now in its second edition). She teaches undergraduate and graduate classes in pedagogy, public speaking, and feminist theory. Based in Kansas City, she enjoys life with her partner and two dogs – a sharpei and a rottweiler.
